Research interest

My current work focuses on the synthesis and evaluation of activity for new molecules with activity of calcium channel and potassium channel modulation. Numerous drugs (two are: nifedipine, amlodipine) that have antihypertensive activity have been used for many years. Such an developing is vitally important if we are to develop addition drugs that are more effective and have minimum side effect. I believe that developing a reliable structure activity relationship between cardiovascular molecules and their mechanisms of action, will allow us to design medically useful ligands that are active many cardiovascular diseases and are less toxic. My group is currently using the techniques of 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, MASS, and X-ray crystallography.
